Mmmm, I LOVE creme brulee. And Mr. H hates it so, more for me.
I just found this delicious recipe for Lemon Thyme Creme Brulee over at Chocolate and Zucchini and I had to try it. The measurements are European on her site so here's the conversion I used:
- 1 1/4 cup heavy cream
- a bit more than 3/4 cup whole milk
- 4 egg yolks
- scant 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- heaping teaspoon fresh lemon zest (could have used a bit more in my opinion)
- thyme sprigs
And I topped it with granulated sugar. Then came the Bernz-o-matic. We don't have a kitchen torch but we do have a Mapp Gas Bernz-o-matic for soldering plumbing (or carmelizing sugar). It's really hot but it works great!
