Epicurious?

Doesn't that somehow sound kind of dirty? Anyway, I've been branching out from my usual favorite source of recipes (allrecipes.com) and I've gotten, shall we say, epicurious.

Tonight's dinner:
The ugliest soup in the world. (Particularly since Biscuit has been suffering some recent stomach distress) but it did taste fine. Black bean soup with cilantro lime sour cream.

The soup was okay but the dessert was DELICIOUS (if I do say so myself)

And isn't that a cute plate? (yes, I did transfer my half eaten slice of cake from my plate to this cuter plate to take the photo. bloggers are nerds :)

Anyway, the cake is Fresh Apricot Upside Down Cake. Of course it's not apricot season so I used super sweet and yummy plums. Then a few hunks of apple and nectarine when the plums ran out. I also put it in a 12+ inch enamel pan (which seemed fine even though it called for 10" non stick) and I did 1/2 stick butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar in the first step (less than was called for--I love how online recipe sites have comments so you can adjust the recipe based on other readers' experiences--many said this was too buttery so I listened).

A dollop of fresh whipped cream and it was perfect.

Yum!
