School auction Kindergarten class projects. SO CUTE!
And a close up of my favorite one. Couldn't Jack be a cartoonist? I scanned all the kids' names and self portraits and Mr. H laser engraved them onto wood and made the frames. Hopefully they'll sell for lots of money.
Biscuit's state flag project:
Mr. H rescued these nice rectangle, rounded edged, slightly flawed pieces of oak from the trash can at work. I suggested Biscuit paint several with a similar theme (I was thinking color palatte or landscapes or pictures of butterflies). But, no. She wanted to do flags. Not even cool international flags. State flags. Ohio, Tennessee, Arkasas and Arizona to be exact. And the collection seems destined to continue growing. It's actually been great as she works pretty independently as long as I agree that, yes, that dot could totally stand in for a star. Any minute now I'm going to buy some royal blue paint--the baby blue doesn't but her but it does bug me.
Dang bird mobile.
I've wanted to make this project forever. Too bad I didn't enjoy making it and I'm not super pleased with the results. Whatever. It's hung. Note to others wanting to follow this tutorial--making the birds is a touch tedious but straightforward. Trying to BALANCE the birds on the sticks and BALANCE the mobile without birds flipping upside down just about sent me to the loony bin yesterday. SO ANNOYING. And, no, I'm not an especially patient person. Why do you ask?
Whoa, just saw that giant cobweb in the photo. So this is the corner of the current craft room/future Oscar room. It's not even close to ready for him but he does have a mobile.
