Well, we're home from vacation. And from the moods around here, we're not very happy about it. But I found my camera cord, Oscar is asleep in the Moby and the rest of them are at Home Depot so I'm going to relive vacation by posting photos of Bodie, California: very cool ghost town.
What, you didn't want to be bored by my vacation photos? That's the wonders of the internet, folks. You can skip right down to the next post in your blog reader. Or, if you want vacation updates from a much funnier/wittier blogger, check out Julia's updates this week. Unless you're my mom or dad in which case, here you go:
On the way to Bodie. These were taken out of the (moving) truck window. Wow, huh?
Then we got to Bodie after a bunch of one lane road construction (really, California, the road to Bodie is the most important repair project/use of money right now? You realize that when the CA Highway ends it's DIRT, right? And everyone on your highway is going to be in DIRT soon? So maybe you could focus on the potholes on Highway 50?) ANYWAY, we got to Bodie:
And the weather was gorgeous, the crowds surprising for the middle of nowhere but manageable, the kids, cooperative so I went crazy with the camera.
The electrical system was pretty amazing. See the insulator up there?
The old wallpapers (some made of cloth?) were really beautiful and interesting.
Spooky!
The stuff inside the homes and businesses was really interesting.
