These were too cool not to share.
Biscuit planted a sunflower seed in a plastic cup at a Daisy Girl Scout meeting in May. It was an impromptu activity when our scheduled stuff ran short and I had the supplies on hand. After it sprouted I threw it in the garden and (unlike many other things in the garden) it thrived!
Can you see the bees?
Meanwhile our giant single headed sunflower is drying up.
With the camera zoom I got a close up look at the seeds.
With the bright blue sky, bright yellow petals and bright green leaves I didn't think these images needed much photoshopping but I wanted to check out a few sites to get Instagram style effects on a computer. I found this article and tried the sites below:
Picnik.com (lomo filter). Whoa, color!
pixlr.com/o-matic (with a filter called Melissa!)
The other sites were mostly for sharing via FB or Twitter and didn't seem to have what I was looking for but were cool if you don't have an iPhone and want to post photos to those sites.
I think I'll use Mr. H's phone and stick with Instagram for now. I found you can print 8x8 size prints at Costco for $1.49. Since they're square they are perfect for Instagram. The Instagram files are really too low res to print but since the effect is already of a blurry/old/poor quality photo the low res didn't bother me. I plan to hang some of the prints on my wall.

So cool! I was just out in my garden this morning before work taking pictures of my sunflowers that bloomed, but they are no where as cool as Paige's.
