I read somewhere that the best time to try to develop a new habit is when you're out of your usual routine. Like when you're on vacation. So this vacation I've been trying to (re)take up running. It's going well now but will I keep it up when we get home?
Four years ago Biscuit took up the (really wonderful!) habit of using the toilet. Turns out the books were right, she'd do it when she was ready. And apparently she was ready on vacation and we didn't need the diapers after all.
But Oscar...he has us both beat. He took up WALKING! Yes, he took his very first (rather accidental) steps this trip. The entire family was there to see it except of course, me. Dang it. But he took a few more steps at his cousin's encouragement so I got the requiste video and film coverage.
He still strongly prefers crawling when he has somewhere to be. Even crawling through the dirt and rocks here. But I have a feeling it won't be long till he's perfectly happy on his own two feet.
Of course, when he's really walking he'll have less opportunity to get stuck under camp chairs.
