To celebrate Labor Day I had a few friends over to try printing on fabric. We mostly used wooden blocks I purchased in India after touring an actual factory where men used the blocks to print textiles you can probably buy at Cost Plus.
We used techniques from the wonderful book Print Workshop.
I quickly gave up on block printing in favor of nature printing. Those hearts above are (black?) walnut shell halves I found in the backyard.
And I couldn't resist leaf printing. Again. With words. Oscar is our little love bug so I made a shirt for him but once the leaf was cut used it on a few onesies for gifts. FYI, the cut leaves only work well once or twice.
It's hard to photograph a shirt on a one-year-old. Kid may not walk much but he's quick!
He's also pretty good at stacking paints ;)

This is a cute idea. I found your site on Pinterest (pumpkin oranges from 2010). Please link this post and any other arts, crafts and play posts to Artsy Play Wednesday on Capri + 3. The linky is now open.
