My dad and I are both doing a photo-a-day project this year. I did this in 2011 and again in 2013 (never made a book in 2013--maybe I'll still do that).
This year I decided to do one "nature" photo each day. I usually prefer to photograph people so the constraints I've given myself are tough. I'm not sure I like it. But I do love how it's gotten me in the habit of noticing my surroundings--particularly on days when I'm at work all day so have to pay attention when I'm walking to a meeting or step out of the office for lunch.
January was not my best month ever (aside: every time I write "best month ever" I think it sounds like an Oprah magazine headline). I felt pretty much uninspired all month, didn't run even close to daily, didn't sew, got behind on work and home stuff blah blah blah. But I did do a photo a day and all were nature photos except January 26. So that was good.
I have high hopes for February.
P.S. My dad is taking a very cool approach to this project and doing a different theme each week. One week was my new niece "junebug," one week will be barns, one week was landscapes etc. Now that I think about it, maybe I could do different themes monthly. January was definitely nature. Hmm, based on the photos I took today February could be: things I'm making/projects, food or nature....Let's see how tomorrow goes. Even though today's nature photo is gorgeous and today's project photo sucks I think I might choose projects. Maybe it'll get me inspired to MAKE SOMETHING.
