A list (as in one list, not A-list, like actors) (nothing like a parenthetical aside two words into the post) Anyway, a list. It's the only way back to blogging after a slow spell. I just downloaded 170 photos off my phone so I guess it's been a while.
The Great Outdoors:
Biscuit and I went to a Girl Scout "Leader-Daughter" weekend in the mountains with about 35 other Girl Scout leaders and their daughters. It was a nice chance to get away, just the two of us, and the boys were just fine without us. There was hiking and crafts but this is what really happens when a bunch of teen and pre-teen girls get together.
(her hair looked really good!)
Last week was Spring Break for Mr. H and the kids so they went backpacking in Pt. Reyes and had a great time. The photos I saw were amazing.
Meanwhile I stayed home and made a serious dent in a serious list and composed mental blog posts about people who are "natural tidiers" vs people who are "panic cleaners." I'm in the latter camp but made some household progress while the kids were gone. It was all undone within a few hours of their return and I have completely lost any desire for house tidying.
I must admit, I do love having the house to myself.
In more "Great Outdoors" news we are heading to Costa Rica this summer! For 40 days!! and 40 nights!!! (which, yes, technically means 41 days). And we rented a house (for a month) with no walls and no access via roads!!!! and now we rented a treehouse for a few nights!!!! I am excited for sure but this will be an ADVENTURE!!!!! A long adventure. Any Costa Rica travel tips for me? Given the cost of private drivers and the stress of car rental I am tempted to travel via bus and save our cash for food and zip lining but is the 7 hour bus ride just too much? Are there any pee breaks? Do I diaper the 4 year old? Anyone been on the public buses in Costa Rica? Please advise--for context we need to get from San Jose to near Corcovado Park.
Easter was lovely. Spent at my parents' house eating ham and all the chocolate. I made a cake a la Amy is the Party and my mom did her usual super generous cash egg hunt.
Biscuit got all the cash.
In related Easter news now that Biscuit is in on the gig and over her terrible disappointment about all the holidays she is an AWESOME Easter Bunny. She totally put together her brother's basket. And then reminded me that she too would like a basket :) She didn't even complain about her totally half ass basket that included candy she bought with her own money for her brother (oops).
Biscuit has started riding her bike to school which feels like a really big milestone worthy of its own post.
Oscar finally fell asleep tonight just after 9:30 and his owl hours are driving me crazy and keeping productivity low.
We are thinking of launching a Kickstarter for the book. Stay tuned.
I got a haircut. Long overdue.
I also made mustard. Separate post.
This list is getting too long and if we're going to launch a Kickstarter this month I best get on it.
Hope your Easter/Passover/Spring has been happy.
