Oscar and I bought a selection of produce based entirely on shape and color.
We came home and sliced them up. Well, I took off a shapely slice or half and let Oscar have at the remains. He is really, really into cutting with his "little knife" these days. If I'm in the kitchen, he wants to help. But only with cutting. He's pretty careful so I let him go for it with these veggies and eventually turned most of this into ratatouille that I found delicious but nobody else ate so in the end much of it was composted.
We (mostly I, he was busy with the knife) mixed colors and turned scraps of fabric into ink pads with the fabric paint.
We stamped onto old t-shirts a co-worker gave me so it's all knit fabric. I'm thinking I'll make a picnic blanket out of the pieces but, for now, it was a fun project.
Also, a post like this makes me glad for a small-audience blog. I don't think the big mommy blogs could post a photo of a child using a knife (safely) without 4 million explanations about how she was right there and the kid is safe and I'm not an idiot etc etc. The judgment of the entire internet must get wearing for those folks. Makes me appreciate them all the more. I'm missing a lot of blogs I used to love reading each week but there are still so many good writers and crafters around.
