Let's be honest, I'm not that great at long term projects. The exception being a book. But my 40th birthday is coming up and I'd really love to do some sort of year long project for my 40th year. I've done the daily photo thing a few times. This time I'm thinking I'll go weekly with #52crafts. Gotta have a hashtag.
I want to be making and creating more. I got a subscription to Creativebug and though I don't actually love watching online video I do appreciate the utility of it for learning crafts. I bet there are 52 things there. And if they aren't there, the internet is a big place and I have an imagination.
Rather than starting on my birthday, I decided to start today by making a boutonniere and a wrist corsage for the Father Daughter Dance at Biscuit's school. I watched this video to get started. Then I bought $4 worth of flowers at Trader Joe's and snipped some shrubs and trees around the neighborhood. $1 in floral tape from Walmart and I was in business. Then I spent all the money saved on flowers buying Biscuit a new dress. Because I am a total pushover and she is a good kid.
Craft #1 was a hit. Next up I'm thinking macrame plant holders (I am a child of the 70's after all) but I don't have much rope on hand and I'd rather use supplies I already own. So stay tuned for next Friday to see what I come up with.
Unrelated, I have been reading a few articles about how "old school" blogging is coming back. I sure hope so. There are so many personal blogs that I miss and I never managed to adapt to "modern" blogging so maybe I'll fit back in again. No money, crappy photos, I'm the perfect old school blogger (with a 10 year blog anniversary coming up!)
Meanwhile, didn't they look so cute heading out to the dance?
