So this little teeny baby turned one! I'm embarrassed to admit I hadn't yet made her a quilt. I did give her a quilt that I'd made but it just isn't the same as making one special.
Her nursery is mountain themed but all my quilt ideas ended up being totally lame and I had a few false starts. And then I was going through my greeting cards and found a quilt image on a card that made me want to start sewing immediately. This is my interpretation of the quilt on the card done in the colors of the nursery.
I didn't measure anything, just cut out a cardboard triangle template and started cutting and sewing. In hindsight, I wish the triangle was a bit broader at the base. I sewed strips, and cut the strips into triangles until I was sick of it and then started assembling. And believe it or not I had exactly the right number. Not one extra, not one short. And I was four short on the plain peach ones but that was easy to remedy.
The entire quilt came together over the course of two weeks of intermittent evening sewing with a final push to assemble and machine quilt it. I can't say I love, love, love this quilt but I definitely like it and I think it's perfect for the adorable recipient.
Happy birthday sweetie. Thanks for inviting us to your party!
