My longtime friend came to visit Sacramento for the long weekend. Her visit was a thoughtful gift from my husband for my 40th birthday! Since both of us are the types to spend an entire day debating, "no, what do YOU want to do?" "I don't mind, what do YOU want to do?" I decided to make a list of options--touristy things I always say I want to do but never actually do.
We hit up the monthly Sacramento Antiques Fair, had a leisurely lunch at the very crowded Tower Cafe (Valentine's Day) and then took a drive to Sutter Creek where we checked out the historic Knights Foundry and did a brandy tasting (neither of us like brandy). The drive home included an absolutely spectacular sunset. Like, such an awesome sunset I've been boring friends trying to describe it for days. The photo isn't great so you'll have to trust me.
Sunday we did a Local Roots food tour of Sacramento which turned out to be fun and introduced me to restaurants I'd never really go to on my own. We also spent a lot of time sewing since we're contributing a tutorial to a blog to promote the book (stay tuned on that).
The weather was just perfect all weekend long and it was so unusual (in a good way) to have no agenda and no obligations. It was pretty much the perfect girls' weekend in my book.
