I'm hoping that soon, soon, I'll have something to share that I've made. The months long making slump might just be ending. But don't hold your breath.
In the meantime, we were in Tahoe for a few days with my family and it was a lovely escape. Minus the part where my dad dislocated his finger on a hike (all fine now!). The first day we cheered my dad and sister on their ride around Lake Tahoe. After that, we didn't have anything planned.
For my birthday my dad gave me a nice jacket and a plan to hike the Tahoe Rim Trail in sections. We did our first 5 7 miles of the trail (two bonus miles for not reading the book closely enough). We hiked the easy section from Ward Road to Tahoe City.
With (some of) the kids we did the nature walk at Taylor Creek Visitors Center and I'd highly recommend that! You get to see inside the side of a natural stream. There are so many fish!
We also did some general walking around, down to the beach, along the bike trail. Enjoyed a movie out on the deck of our rental house and generally relaxed quite a lot letting everyone hang out together. This doesn't happen much due to geography and schedules but it's so great to get the cousins (and aunts/uncles/grandparents/siblings) together. A lovely four days.
So cool how Taylor Creek (and the fish within it) were actually over the boardwalk trail. It was refreshing!
Lovely meadow. but So. Many. Mosquitoes. I took this photo on the run.
