Back in the day I made wood doll beds and had a great time dressing them up with mattresses and mini quilts. So when I saw the wood doll beds at Ikea on Friday I knew what I wanted to make for a certain little girl's first birthday. No time for making the bed but I could make the fun part and get out of my crafting rut.
These are the kind of photos you get when you finish a birthday gift at the exact time the party starts. Lucky they live close by.
Oscar "helped" me by cutting scraps of sheets for the improv pieced quilt. It is SO FAR from perfect but it came out cute enough. I also made a tufted mattress, simple sheet and little pillow all from vintage sheet scraps in pinks and yellows.
It felt SO GOOD to be out in my craft shack sewing again. It's been too long and I've missed it. While I was out there I also stitched up some simple curtains for our living room makeover--I'll share those soon.
It was also fun to have Oscar with me and now he wants to sew a blanket for his stuffed seal, Little Pup. Maybe we'll get to that today. In the meantime, he designed a cool Lego ship. He's surprisingly, amazingly good a Lego.
And, finally, a few shots from the super adorable party complete with props and photobooth!
