Inspired by Swistle's "What do I look like game" I thought up a little game over here at Under Construction.
The game is "What's Melissa's Day Job?" Here are the clues. These are all things I have done in the course of my work over the past two weeks:
- Rode in a helicopter
- Drove for 4 hours straight through the Central Valley of California
- Dug with an excavator (Biscuit would be so jealous)
- Assisted a woman trying to determine if fungicide on her grapes killed her three parrots (not likely) (Also, so not in my job description)
- Had a surprisingly long, detailed conversation plus at least 5 emails on the subject of the boss offering a toast at a meal
- Had a conversation about what my department/coworkers could do with $50,000, no strings attached.
- Read an annual report for a company based in Japan
- Took a hard hat tour of a building under construction
- Had a brainstorming session that involved summer camp, school lunch ladies and whether or not children will eat eggplant.
- Sat through three hours straight of powerpoint presentations on topics as scintillating as liver disease, colon health, Lake Tahoe and energy efficiency. (all the while surreptitiously stealing fresh raspberries from the nearby fruit platter).
- Considered carefully ;) whether a meeting between four individuals should be referred to as "private" or "small" Decided on "small"
You should note that I've selected all the really fun/cool stuff and some of the random crap I've done. Mostly red herrings. I really spend a good deal of time at my desk on email and on the phone as well as in meetings of various types.
So, guess my line of work or job title and you win! If you guess the type of place I work, you might get a runner up prize.
If anyone actually wins, I will send them a zipper pouch (if you know me in real life you are ineligble--sorry)
Ok, photo time, this just made me laugh when I went to check on her.
Ok, I'll give it a shot. Environmental Impact Specialist? p.s. Kitchen is looking great!

Sounds like government work to me--smaller-scale, local, like town or city.

Shoot, sorry for the double comment. I hit the back key, it warned me it might repeat something, I hit "okay" anyway. Wrong decision.

Hey, I linked to you through Swistle. Definitely government (the meeting clue has to do with the Sunshine Law, right?). I say you work for USDA. As an inspector?
Also, I am totally flabbergasted at your cherry wood blocks. They're awesome! We lost a red maple at our house in a recent storm and my father-in-law said something about making blocks for the boys. And I laughed out loud. HA HA! As if I had that those sort of skills!
