In my head, this looked AWESOME. In reality? Kinda meh. I wanted to paint a backdrop to put behind our newly cleaned, newly re-fished fish tank. Actually, I wanted Biscuit to paint a backdrop. Here's the before shot with the plant falling over.
Hi, cute, frowny fish.
Biscuit wasn't on board with my vision for the project (shocker, right?). Here's what she came up with:
Fish tank (with door and path) in the middle surrounded by sea creatures. Octopuses in the upper left. Her seahorse is kinda cute. (hint: it's green)
Now I paint at about the same level of skill as a four year old but I really wanted a BLUE background so after realizing it was ridiculous to try to micromanage Biscuit on a supposedly FUN project, I made my own.
Not sure what the red blob it (I was aiming for coral) but my jellyfish is kinda cute. (hint: it's light gray)
Still, not quite right. So I slid in a piece of wrapping paper that happens to match my wall and suddenly, it was perfect.
Done. And almost as cute as the new fishies.
Funny side story: Our last fish that we'd had for about 2 years passed away over the holidays. I was busy but he started to stink so I went and dumped the ooky water (and fish!) on the lawn. As I was scooping up the fish from the lawn Mr. H pointed out a bird might want to eat him and, being lazy, I left him on the lawn. Ok, this story is sounding really gross. I didn't see him the next time I went out and presumed a bird did eat him (then I started to think a bird might get sick from several days dead goldfish). When my mom came over yesterday she mentioned that there was a dead goldfish on our lawn. Oops. Apparently she suggested to Biscuit they bury it and Biscuit said NO. My mom said, why not, he's already dead. And Biscuit said burying it would hurt it more (or something).
Ok, typing that up, it wasn't that funny and mostly makes me sound like a terrible person who leaves our dearly departed fish on the lawn. Hmmm. At least the new fish have a cute tank.
*snort* We left a deceased squirrel(obviously not a pet) in our yard but we guess a dog or coyote came and got it because it only lasted a few days.
I love ALL the backgrounds and suggest you rotate them periodically!! Our best tank was from a pet store remodel and had one side painted teal so we didn't have to do anything with it. We had that tank for 15 years before something fell over in the garage and broke it.

Trying new and different designs would attract the guests.
