Biscuit said she'd wear this fabric combo but I wasn't so sure. Of course now she won't wear it except for this photo shoot but making this dress from a vintage pattern (McCalls 6780) was a good learning experience for me so no regrets. I pretty much suck at garment sewing and practicing on Biscuit-sized stuff makes more sense than wasting fabric on something for me.
After the neck band came out too tight I gave up on doing the sleeve band but that was the only real modification I made to the pattern. Oh, and switching the fabric for the collar.
The awesome mushroom print fabric in the yoke was part of a gift from The Home Ec Teacher's Daughter. She gave me a pile of fabulous fabrics and this is the first I've cut.
I'm sure Mr. H would like me to note that the rest of the lawn looks great but a tree is blocking the sprinkler in this particular patch. Bad spot for a photo shoot except for the mini apple tree which provided a photo shoot prop.
The more I look at the photos the more I'm liking this little dress. Oh well.
Looks like Fall has arrived at your house! Can I come over? Love this dress. The brown checks are delicious.
