I personally find construction fascinating. Turning raw materials like 2x4s and concrete into an actual house. I'm pretty sure Biscuit feels the same way because after last summer's project she remarked several times how daddy built a whole bathroom. It is pretty amazing.
So, for those of you who find this sort of thing interesting and for me who finds it fun to document progress here goes.
Sometime after the trenching and before the gravel (on May 25 I suppose) Mr. H and his dad built the foundation forms.
On May 26 we got a load of gravel that made me grateful to be 9 months pregnant and unable to shovel.
Mr. H brought in friends and family and wheelbarrowed nearly all 5 yards of rock into the trenches. After gravel they still needed to be 12 inches deep (foundation) and 24 inches deep (electrical, no gravel) plus there needed to be several inches of gravel over the middle of the foundation.
Exhibit A (note wood forms and boatloads of gravel)
We called for our first county inspection but due to it being the Thursday before a long weekend the inspection was set for Tuesday. We joked it was the perfect time to have the baby. And so it was.
May 30 (Mr. H's birthday)
He was back at it with his assistant setting in rebar and placing anchor bolts to attach the structure to the foundation. If there's ever a tornado around here, head for the shed. It isn't going anywhere.
June 2
We ordered up 5 yards of concrete and a pump.
This was my primary view of the operation (sideways!)

Back to the concrete
And now I'm boring even myself so I'll stop with the cliffhanger that, as of today, the building has four framed walls. Will the roof trusses we ordered be delivered on time on Friday? How many more 2x4s will we need to purchase? Stay tuned :)
Mmmmmmm... baby toes.

That was totally the best part, wasnt it? :) And sheesh that heel stick/blood draw left a mark.

You can never have enough 2x4's according to my dad. Congrats on the Baby!
