Belated Happy Easter! Typepad has been down but even a day late I couldn't resist posting these cool eggs. They're dyed with silk! I had never heard of this before but it's easy (wrap in 100% silk print, wrap in muslin, boil in water with a bit of vinegar). I got the instructions from this book. I used two thrifted silk ties I had tucked away and a thrifted piece of printed, red silk with a perfect print. Super quick, not at all messy and a very cool result.
In addition to dyeing the eggs, I also made this cake. It was yummy but it's a LOT of cake. Lucky I like cake for breakfast.
Not exactly the best photo.
I rather enjoyed a post I read recently (and now cannot find) regarding the quality of photos in blogs these days (especially lifestyle and craft blogs). On one hand it's great to see so much good work out there. On the other hand, sheesh, every post has photographer credits and every image is photoshopped within an inch of its life. With a little hobby blog, I just don't have the time. Poorly lit egg photos and cake photos with hands and wine glasses around the edges for the win.
"Good thing I like cake for breakfast" ha ha - me too. :) I'd rather look at your real life fun than a catalog-perfect blog. That's what it's all about anyway!!
